Conclusion: This Shinsei Golden Hawk is new in box, and comes complete in a very good (9/10) original Japanese box with all inserts. This model is factory fresh straight from 1987. A rare chance to own this retro-styled, Japanese-made 1/18 R/C buggy. Priced as always – according to rarity, condition and past examples I have sold.

History

Shinsei was a maker of high quality Japanese R/C toys (and die-cast models) dating back to the 1960s. In the 1980s, their R/C line-up included several very popular releases like the Mountain Man (1981) and Dust Runner (1982). The Golden Hawk was a 1/18 scale buggy released in the mid-1980s, with authentic frame buggy looks and real sponsor decals, and which was designed to be run on smooth surfaces. Coming either blue or black, and with good reception, proper rubber tyres and even a turbo function on the transmitter, it emulated the bigger buggies for younger children, and still looks great on the shelf today.
