Conclusion: A stunning, brand new Tandy / Radio Shack Malibu 4×4 Off Roader. Unused, and flawless. Extremely rare in such condition. The box is a bit worn on this one, as the boxes for this particular model had somewhat thin cardboard… but at least the box is still there. The vehicle is mint and still in plastic. The roof lights are still unopened in bag. Priced according to rarity, condition, demand, and past examples that have sold.

History
In the early 1980s, Nikko of Japan created a 1/10 scale R/C model of the Toyota Hilux. By the mid-late 1980s, they had revised this model with larger tyres and a different design, and this later incarnation was picked up by Tandy/Radio Shack stores and styled as the “Malibu 4×4 Off Roader”. Still based on a classic Toyota Hilux pickup, and still featuring Toyota logos, the Malibu has large rubber tyres and switch selectable 4WD vs 2WD. With Digital Proportional control, working headlights, and great torque, this was a supremely capable ready to run off-road truck for it’s time, and a bigger and more premium model than even the classic Radio Shack 4×4 Off Roader (which was built by Taiyo). One of the finest R/C vehicles ever sold at Tandy/Radio Shack stores.
