The original Taiyo Jet Hopper from Japan was a game-changing ready-to-run R/C toy that sold worldwide, and in the millions. It was a huge hit for Taiyo, and possibly the most popular R/C car of the 1980s.
As the 1990s began, Japanese toy manufacturer Taiyo’s latest sensation, the rubber tracked ‘Fast Traxx’ would go on to become one of their biggest hits.
Back in 1986, R/C magazines were a lot more unassuming than they are today. And even the Turbo Hopper was featured in one such “hobby” magazine.
The Tyco/Taiyo Turbo Hopper was a hugely popular R/C toy buggy in the USA in the mid 1980s. It was the American release of the Taiyo Jet Hopper.
The toy that first started my interest in R/C cars… the Jeep Renegade was a lovely, scale Jeep R/C model that was built to last.
