– Some wear to decals and edges which have been restored where possible.
– Front tyres are as new.
– Rear tyres have about 60-70% tread. Rubber is fresh.
– Some edge wear and scuffs to the underside, but pretty minor.
This Jet Hopper is in perfect running condition, clean and highly presentable. Nothing is broken, and there is plenty of life left in the original tyres.
Jet Hopper collectors may recognize this as a Mk1 type Jet Hopper – the first type ever manufactured. It has the taller front tyres, no LED light on the car, thinner rear shocks and a few other subtle details. This example is the internationally released Jet Hopper.
The decals have some wear/fade, and have been lightly restored at various edges using genuine Tamiya model paints. The original metal body clip/pin was not available, so it has been replaced by a similar style Tamiya body clip as I did not have an exact spare Taiyo one. Apart from that – everything is precisely original.
The original box has wear, but is also presentable. The original manual is included. And I am throwing in a new in packet spare set of Jet Hopper steering clips.
Typically new in box examples of the Jet Hopper would list for AU$500 – AU$600. This one is significantly lower as it’s not mint. But if you’re looking for a very neat, clean, complete and perfect-running example of the first ever Jet Hopper, this may interest you. 34 years young. Priced according to rarity, condition and past examples I have sold.

History
The Taiyo Jet Hopper is one of the most famous R/C toys ever made. It was first released by Taiyo in 1986, and subsequently found it’s way around the world. It was branded both Tyco and Taiyo in the USA, Metro and Taiyo in Australia, Dickie and Taiyo in Europe, and just Taiyo elsewhere. It is possibly the biggest selling R/C model ever – the scale of it’s popularity during the mid 1980s was phenomenal, with 280,000 Jet Hoppers sold in Australia alone during 1986 and 1987. It’s combination of realistic ready-to-run buggy looks, catchy name, and “Turbo” function on the transmitter made it a hit in virtually every market in the world from 1986. And it underwent three subtle revisions (known as Mk1, Mk2 and Mk3) during it’s production run from 1986 to 1988.
