Welcome to R/C Toy Memories

This blog is about my collection of radio controlled cars and other toys, that I’ve been accumulating on and off since about 1984. Each post will highlight a particular toy, a related artifact or a memory that has inspired my collection.

That’s it really. Most posts will be R/C car related, but there will also be other types of toys from time to time. I may also ramble at length occasionally, so just a friendly warning! I’ll be sure to include some pictures to keep things interesting.

So let’s go…

  1. Thank you for sharing. I just purchased a nicely detailed like new Radio Shack SHERMAN TANK Cat. No. 60-4059. It seems to be fully operational. Before I give it to my adult son, I would like to find replacement battery covers for the tank and the remote. I would appreciate any information or leads. Thanks. Jim

    1. Hi Jim, Unfortunately finding battery covers for one specific model, when they were never actually sold as spares, is pretty much impossible. Your only real option is to find a second Radio Shack Sherman Tank with the covers, and put them on the better one.
On the plus side, those Sherman tanks do come up on eBay. If you can find one that’s not working, that would be a very cheap source for the spare bits ($20-$30?)

        1. Good luck 🙂 Suggest the best way to find rarities on eBay is to set up a “saved search” for say “radio shack tank”, and select “notify me by email” and then forget it. Sure beats manually searching every day or week.
