Description

This Nikko Nissan 300ZX Fairlady is brand new, unused. Mint in box. You will not find better.

It’s full title is Nikko Nissan 300ZX Fairlady SSP (Super Secret Police) Sound-Z. This was a special model from Nikko that was not only a stunning replica of the Nissan 300ZX sports car, but also came with “Turbo” function – and when the model hits Turbo speed, police lights pop up in the roof, a siren starts, and the headlights flash.

This model has been tested (just by holding it aloft, not running on a surface) and works absolutely perfectly – including the turbo function, headlights, roof lights and siren. It also has a 2 speed transmission and soft rubber tyres.

The box is excellent, with some edge wear, but probably an 8 out of 10 overall. The polystyrene base is complete, with all inserts. The original owner’s manual is also included.

If you’re a fan of the Nissan 300ZX Fairlady, and like to collect souvenirs of this Japanese classic, or you simply like vintage R/C models from back when they looked realistic, this model is not to be missed.

Please see the photos to understand the condition. Feel free to contact me to find out more.

History

The Nikko Nissan 300ZX Fairlady was released in 1985, and along with a couple of other models from Nikko, was one of the very first R/C models ever released with that cool “Turbo” feature on the transmitter (later popularized by Taiyo with their Jet Hopper model). It’s also one of the nicest models of the Nissan 300ZX Fairlady ever made, and comes with the added feature of being a secret police vehicle with pop-up police lights and a siren. It was released at a time when a combination of features like this was new in the R/C toy industry, and was one of at least two models that Nikko released with this feature – another being a Ford Escort. At 1/14 scale it’s also an impressive size, and the glossy black and gold “Turbo” styling is pure 1980s.
