Conclusion: This Tyco/Taiyo Turbo Hopper is new in box, with all inclusions – paperwork, plus traffic cones and steering clips (unopened). The box is as good as you will ever find on this model, as is the car itself – brand new, never run. This is the same model as the Taiyo Jet Hopper, and Metro/Taiyo Jet Hopper – they just had different branding in different countries. The Tyco release had the “window-style” box and lovely graphics identical to the Metro release. It has the words “Tyco” instead of “Metro”, and “Turbo Hopper instead of “Jet Hopper”.
Any new in box example of this classic buggy is extremely hard to find, and a window-box example particularly so. This one is as nice as you will ever find. Vehicle has been gently tested – and is 100% working. Tyres are mint. Box is a solid 9/10 with bright graphics all round. Priced according to rarity, condition, and past examples I have sold.

History
The Taiyo Jet Hopper is one of the most famous R/C toys ever made. It was first released by Taiyo in 1986, and subsequently found it’s way around the world. It was branded both Tyco and Taiyo in the USA, Metro and Taiyo in Australia, Dickie and Taiyo in Europe, and just Taiyo elsewhere. It is possibly the biggest selling R/C model ever – the scale of it’s popularity during the mid 1980s was phenomenal, with 280,000 Jet Hoppers sold in Australia alone during 1986 and 1987. It’s combination of realistic ready-to-run buggy looks, catchy name, and “Turbo” function on the transmitter made it a hit in virtually every market in the world from 1986. And it underwent three subtle revisions during it’s production between 1986 and 1988.
