This is a brand new in box, original Tamiya Fox kit from 1985.
It’s been 30 years since The Fox was released. If you’re truly nostalgic for this classic kit, don’t settle for a reissued version with it’s changed name, parts, box and fake logo decals.
There are still a handful of original Tamiya Fox kits left unbuilt in the world – and this is one of them. It comes complete with all the original 1980s parts, engineering, decals and all the little things that made the Fox such a brilliant R/C kit model when it was first released. If you always wanted The Fox, you can buy it, build it and even run it like it’s the 1980s again. Or keep it new in box and simply enjoy having this kit on your shelf as a collectible (there are many people who collect vintage R/C kits – myself included).
This kit is complete, and never built. All parts are included. There is some fading to the box, as the kit is old stock that has been in storage for a long time. All parts are in excellent shape and ready to go. Even the blister packs displaying all the little parts are still in good shape (none broken open).
There are very few brand new in box original vintage R/C toys left in the world. But if you enjoy nostalgia, then nothing beats owning a true original that has never been used by anyone else.
Relive the original Tamiya Fox again. Don’t miss your chance.

The Fox is one of Tamiya’s mid 1980s buggy kits, and one of their “animal themed” cars that came with a catchy and cool name, and a slender body shape with a long nose (echoing the animal after which it is named). It belongs to that early era of Tamiya when each car had a distinct character and colour theme, and Tamiya wasn’t simply pumping out mindless repeats or rehashing past successes.
The company only released a few different models each year in the 1980s (unlike today), and the Fox was one of their sportiest – coming with ball bearings, a lexan body, and solid performance. Tamiya sold a huge number of Foxes in Australia, and it’s likely this was one of their most popular models here in the 80s. Today “The Fox” is a cornerstone piece in any serious vintage R/C collection. The model was rereleased as the “Nova Fox” last year or so, but only the original kit with its all vintage parts and genuine sponsor decals will truly take you back to the golden era of Tamiya in the 1980s.
