Conclusion: This Taiyo Aero Super Jet 4WD is brand new in box, and 100% working. The box and polystyrene have some wear (including a pen mark), but both are intact and presentable. The vehicle and transmitter are mint in every regard, and operate flawlessly. A very cool buggy in black, and typical of the extremely high quality of Taiyo around this time (1987). Made in Japan. Priced according to rarity, condition and past examples I have sold.

History

Following the success of the Jet Hopper in 1986, Taiyo released a wide variety of high quality R/C buggies, with each new one more sophisticated than the last. In a compact package, the Aero Super Jet 4WD was a buggy packing 4WD transmission and the ability to reach a top speed of 23km/h. It was one of Taiyo’s first models to feature the new trigger-and-wheel style transmitter, with a green LED when Turbo speed was engaged. With low profile tyres, good suspension, sleek looks, authentic branded sponsor decals and an oversize rear wing, the Aero Super Jet 4WD was menacing little unit that marked the trend toward “aero” designs in R/C buggies. One of Taiyo’s many “black box” classics of the mid-late 1980s.
