History

The Tamiya Grasshopper is one of the all-time classic R/C buggy kits from Tamiya. Powered by a 380 motor for longer running time while still offering entertaining speed, it was the second of Tamiya’s most popular animal themed R/C kit models from 1983/1984 (namely: The Frog, The Grasshopper, The Hornet). The shape and colours of the car were inspire by the real animal, and this concept combined with it’s off-road versatility, made it very popular when it was released. The chassis is a simple, robust 2WD setup that is still copied to this day by other companies. During the 1980s, this kit offered many people their first taste of truly realistic 1/10 scale off-road driving and racing.
