Description

This Shinsei Mountain Man is in superb condition with barely a scuff on the underside – suggesting it was almost never used.

It works 100% perfectly, just like new.

The car has been resprayed in a custom yellow, with a silver decal along the lower body. There have been some scratches and touch ups to the body as well, along with a small crack near the left rear tail light. This has been reglued.

The overall impression is that yellow and black actually looks great on this car, and this example is “near new” mechanically. A surprisingly great looking model that deserves a shelf, but is also near mint mechanically and ready to be enjoyed.

Please see the photos to understand the condition. Feel free to contact me to find out more.

History

The Shinsei Mountain Man was an amazing ready-to-run RC toy in 1981 when it was first released by Shinsei of Japan. One interesting fact is that it was priced even higher in Japan (18,900yen) at the time, than some of the early Tamiya buggies like the Hornet. Featuring the ability to switch between 4WD and 2WD, and taking a lot of batteries, this was a very high quality 4×4 that travelled at a decent pace. It’s realistic looks made it a hit around the world, particularly in the USA where Chevy Blazers were most prevalent. Today the Mountain Man is the most sought-after RC model ever made by Shinsei, a company which disappeared sometime in the 1990s and is now long gone. Truly a cornerstone RC model if you’re into vintage 4×4 toys.
